My Story

Who I am

I am a Clinical Herbalist and plant-based Holistic Nutritionist. I am passionate about the plants, I work on behalf of the plants and Mother Earth, I make a daily commitment to teach others the value of plants and their medicines, and to serve.

Why I do what I do

I care deeply about the evolution of humanity. My work then, is to connect people to plants. Plants, teach us, nourish us, heal us, support us, empower and inspire us. And when we work with the plants, we remember who we are. Who we truly are. Past the old stories and beliefs that no longer serve us. I believe, the plants are our way through this current crisis and our way forward. I am eternally grateful that I get to do this incredible work.

My story...

Plants have held an attraction for me from a very young age. My nickname was Petunia because you could always find me in the flower patch. When I was 3 or 4, I overheard my Mom and her friend say that dandelion can prevent cancer. I lobbed off every yellow flower I could see and popped it in my mouth. Not knowing at the time that it was the root used medicinally, my heart was in the right place.

My second love is medicine. Through high school I volunteered at a hospital. My first job was at a pharmacy helping the pharmacist compound salves and ointments. On my break I would sit and read the ‘big blue book’ (Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties) trying to understand pharmacology and the physiology of the body. I was fascinated.

Following a long and successful career in costumes for the film and fashion industry, I contracted the H1N1 flu virus that led to post-infectious Encephalitis, a debilitating illness. Following a long process of seeking advice from conventional and integrative practitioners, it was only botanical medicine that got me back on track, from barely surviving to thriving again. That got my attention. Once again, I was drawn to the plants and the power that lies within.

Through my journey from illness to health, I developed a deep understanding of the healing process, and empathy for those who experience chronic pain and dis-ease. I know too well that when you’re not feeling your best, you’re not up to the task, your work suffers and those around you do as well. As women, we are natural caretakers. We nourish, care for and look out for those around us. Our families. Our friends. Our tribe. And so when we as women heal, so too does our community. The effects are compounded.

I also know that when I healed myself with plant medicine, it sparked a knowing inside of me that I was meant to help others heal and become the best version of themselves. I am honoured to work with the plants each day. And I am grateful for the illness that has taught me compassion and empathy toward others who suffer from chronic pain and a feeling of unwell.

I now know that it doesn’t have to be that way. The body has an innate ability to heal and with the proper nutrients and plant medicine, we can feel amazing and energetic at any age.

It is my mission/calling/work to help women heal, to not only survive but to thrive. So they may awaken, shed what no longer serves, to show as their best selves, and nurture those in their lives. When we heal a woman, we heal a village. She takes that experience, her story and shares it with those she loves. And as a result we reach many.

To me, that is the only way we will heal as a population, as a planet, as a collective.

My mission, then:

Educate. Inspire. Empower. Awaken. Transform.
